


Depending on your desired playstyle, you'll organically level up these stats, unlocking new guns, abilities, and more. This strikes true for combat as well, with the main three offensive options being firearms, melee attacks, and explosives. For example, collect enough agility orbs and you'll be able to jump higher and higher, eventually leaping over entire buildings.

When you successfully collect these orbs, your respective skill will level up. Like the previous game, there are various orbs located throughout the city, including agility orbs, hidden orbs, driving orbs, and more. Additionally, Cell has taken over some key areas, which you can liberate and turn into Agency operating bases. Spread across Pacific City and its surrounding areas are several beacons that must be activated to repel the mutant attacks. Instead of having traditional story missions, there are a few main activities to focus on, with a handful of other distractions to help you level up your character. GameplayĪfter a brief tutorial mission, Crackdown 2 throws you into the riotous Pacific City as a fresh new peacekeeper in the Agency. The lack of cohesive story structure leaves a lot of the narrative up to interpretation, with the focus mainly on the explosive action.

Overall, Crackdown 2 has a decent story, but it's nothing particularly new or original. However, as the main agent discovers audio logs during their adventure, a conspiracy begins to reveal itself. As the city descends into chaos, the Agency sends out their finest agents to return peace to the streets. Soon after, an unknown virus is unleashed across Pacific City, turning citizens into beastly mutated freaks. During a press conference, a terrorist group known as Cell detonates an explosive, killing dozens of reporters and Agency personnel. Despite the city experiencing an all-time low crime rate, many citizens still believe the Agency to be a sinister operation at its core.
